Backyard Breeders and irresponsible pet owners. There is a girl at work whose cat had 4 kittens and dog just had 6 puppies. I hope she can find homes for 10 animals and doesn't place them at a shelter.

I can tell you for a fact that reputable breeders are NOT the problem. Their cats are spoken for as soon as they become available and have waiting lists.

I am glad I was able to share my experience as it has bothered me for years. Thank you everyone.

Joanne, it sure seems that many of us have had similar issues!

And, I've loved all my Non-Persian kitties and rescues, and rescued Persians.

Upon visiting the shelter a month ago, there have been Persians & Himis there, plus you can't always get to know their personality (why you should always play with them in the private room).

Anyway, the person their told me that ALL Persians were snooty anyway, and weren't worth the trouble, just not friendly to people. A Volunteer said this, mind you!

Yes - she got a HUGE piece of my mind, and I told them how sweet they really were, and that they were the loves of my life. She didn't know what to say, and could've sworn she turned colors! You CANNOT bad mouth Persians around me!

Oh, and how about Petfinders.com, where they list ANY medium + haired coated cat, as half-PERSIAN, to get the uneducated to look at them!? GRRRRRRR!!!!

I find it odd that these people don't realize how sweet the Persian temperament really is - or, why would they be the #1 fave cat in the world for so many years!?
