When I changed vets last year all the records were faxed to my new vet (I thought). The new vet told me that Sol had NEVER had any vaccinations other than rabies and that I should do them. I was fairly certain he had had them but also thought that it was time for a booster. Now the vet was after me to do the second in the series so I started checking. I have made the mistake of relying on the vets office to notify me when they were due. Old vet always did and I was to intimidated to do the shots myself. NO MORE! I will take them for Rabies, but do the rest myself. As for the records, it seems when they faxed them over they didn't include the kitten records. I had taken them all in, unnamed, for the vax. In the records they were just kitten 1, kitten 2 and so on. Just a few more gray hairs thinking I might have taken my babies to the shows without protection! BAD OWNER for BAD record keeping!!! Silly thing is when I do something myself for the cats I keep meticulous records. |

Yes Lynda, do the shots yourself and that way you will know for sure everything is done right.
The whole medical profession needs to be more careful in my opinion! |

Joan,
It was neither vets fault...the new one could only go with the records he has and the old one had given the shots. I should have kept up the shot records instead of relying on them. Lesson learned the hard way. I will be giving the boosters to the girls next week. I have the vaccine but am waiting for the needles to get here since they were shipped differently. While I have given fluids to many times to count to various cats and this is the same procedure (subcutaneously) I am still a little nervous doing it. |

Good luck Lynda. I'm sure you will do just fine. I feel the same you do now. I'm giving sub-Q fluids daily and I also needed to give Josh injections. I still get paranoid with the injections. I really don't know why. |

You will do a great job Lynda and don't worry. Shaving their nose is more difficult |

I can tell you one thing. IF I ever do get up enough courage to show, either Lynda or Tracy will have to come and shave my kitty's little nose---LOL! |

Tracy would do a much better job than I would. She shaved Boos nose for me at his first show. He was just a couple of days past 4 months and looked so tiny compared to the other kittens entered. |

AWWW! I bet Boo was adorable and so precious at his first show. He is one of my favorite golden boys too. |

He was (and is) adorable. I remember a judge took him out and held him up high to show the audience and said "Wouldn't you love to find him in your stocking on Christmas?" The show was a few weeks before Christmas. |
