I thought I had a great one for 2 years (Drinkwell). Well Allie for some reason would always place her head under the spout. Yes, the wet spike look was always a dead giveaway after she had a drink.
I was wiping her head dry with paper towel but didn't realize that the base (near her skin) was retaining moisture until I was combing her and a section of fur the size of a quarter just fell out in my hand.
I needed to buy another style (this one the water cascades down). Yes, Allie's fur grew back. Excuse Unity she doesn't know where she should groom herself yet.

Thanks Joane. Allie is my heart and soul. The strange thing about her is that she casts a spell on everyone she comes in contact with. |

She's so cute. They both are, actually. I wish my two would drink out of the fountains when they were running. I have to turn them off before either of mine will drink. *sigh*

@ Heather.
I can see why Allie, casts a spell on everyone she meets, there is something very special about that gorgeous face.
at Unity.
Celeste, is the new fountain a Petmate? I have a "Petmate" it looks very similar. My furries love their fountain. Hamish makes a mess with any water container, he dips a foot in before he drinks, and shakes water over everything. |

Yes Sheryl...you know your kitty products well! It absolutely killed me to buy another brand since I was so use to the old one and there wasn't anything wrong with it. Josh actually liked to drink from the spout.
So out came the instructions so I could read on how this one operates. I have very little patience for this these days.
I had no other choice since Allie had a raw spot after the fur fell out. If you look closely at the photo, what appears as a grey shadow is where she lost her fur. The fur is shorter now in that area than the rest of her forehead.
I don't miss the wet spike look tho'.
Heather, I believe you and little Unity have the same idea. |

Yes your girl does have the look of a special Angel. I have the kind of fountain you mention but Sparky's favorite is the bubble fountain from Cat It. I love it but it is harder to clean and the dogs share it also. Actually Sparky's favorite is the bathroom sink Every time I turn it on for her she inspects the handle before drinking, it's like she is trying to figure out how to turn the water on herself.
